The goals for the KEPLER-42 mission are as follows:
- To land on the Martian surface in a secure and controlled manner.
- To demonstrate full-system and payload functionality and move 5m or out of the KEPLER lander’s shadow, whichever is closer.
- To semi-autonomously move 500m across the Martian surface under its own weight and power whilst logging data from inertial and imaging sensors.
